Not bad for (insert age here).”
Well, I’m not twenty anymore.”
This is me ten years ago when I looked ‘good’.”
I wish I could lose these last (insert #) lbs.”
The number on the scale, the size of your jeans…your weight, height, body fat percentage…the circumference of your thigh, waist, upper arm…the number of years on this planet, the number of babies you have birthed…the number of calories you consumed last night, the number of steps you took today (or didn’t take today)…isn’t it time to lose track of all the numbers that seemingly classify you and, in fact, limit you?
We feel that we are acting more responsibly when we measure, track, and quantify, but progress is not linear in fitness. Progress is never linear when your mind is involved.
As we round out the week of LISTEN, I invite you to listen closely to your self-dialogue. Words have a power. A power to manifest. Knowing this, you will become more selective with the words you choose to describe yourself (and others). Consider it a responsibility. Those words are contagious after all. The belief that you are — or anyone else is — too old, too fat, too…unworthy of all that you (or they) desire…how did you come to believe this? Through a friend, a mentor, an advertisement, your…mother? See, it goes beyond you and as parents, children, friends, role models, and citizens of the world, we share a responsibility to not perpetuate that.
Our worthiness resonates from within us, not from our various numbers. We are worthy of the highest vision of ourselves because self-love coupled with knowledge (truths) easily replace the self-hatred, the gimmicks, myths, shortcuts, and hearsay that drive us to track, compare, and, ultimately, despair.
Watch what happens when you begin to see your limitless self as part of your fitness / life equation. Your body will follow your mindset. Let go of the belief that you are not worthy of your desires. It is not serving you and it is certainly not serving the world. We need you…to dream big and desire more.
