If you’re striving to look like the cover model of Oxygen, but following a diet of chia seeds and coconut oil while not religiously lifting weights, the best you can expect was perfectly displayed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. For many women, the classic case of not being on the “right track” with the intended physique goal.
I am not body shaming Lady G; I am offering you a reality check. It is February, after all – the month of resolution toughness – and I see the ramifications of this type of physique 10, 20, 30 years down the road.
Lady Gaga chose to put her body on display as she wore costuming that exposed her legs and, at times, her mid-section, and left little to the imagination of what was under wraps. If she wanted to cover up or conceal, I’m pretty sure she could’ve come up with something. She has been notoriously original in the past…
And, when you think about it, it’s almost as puzzling as Oprah. Gaga also has the financial wherewithal to hire any trainer on the planet, any nutritionist, have all her food prepared to her exact need and, yet, she displayed the type of physique that cause a lot of women to get frustrated and give up. And, as we’ve discussed on this page, I don’t want you to give up.
But, the reality is, it’s never enough to train hard. It is, however, always enough to train intelligently. Just ask Tom Brady about his age…
…or, let me share a few anecdotes from a typical day in my world:
Sarah, I was really good today. For lunch, I made a hummus wrap with grilled veggies and feta.”
Sarah, what do you think about this? Oatmeal with chia seeds, almond milk, and banana – it was recommended on The Today Show.”
Heart healthy, perhaps, but completely off-track with their physique goals.
Sarah, last summer, I tried so hard. I worked out 5-6 days a week and, after months of effort and trainer-related expenditure, the scale didn’t budge and my body looked the same.”
Did her trainer turn a blind eye when she ordered shakes at the juice bar that completely obliterated her workouts?
The effort isn’t rewarded when the effort is off-track. This is the good news because, herein lies the opportunity and the truth:
Training hard without solid adherence to kinesiology is like Tom Brady trying to run his own routes. It just doesn’t work. He’s not that fast for one, and, for two, he’s not “doing his job”.
We all know our assignments, but how the assignments are executed will always set players and teams [and physiques] apart.” ~Geoff Schwartz
Now, you can say, Lady Gaga is an empowered woman and empowered women don’t care about how they look. I respectfully disagree. Loving yourself unconditionally does not mean you have to settle for flab or anything less than fabulous! I work with empowered women day in and day out. Real women in their forties, fifties, sixties, and beyond; young women in high school; and peers in other states. The one thing all these ladies have in common is their desire to transform their physiques and feel good in their bodies again.
Whether the aspiration is to sunbathe nude in Bali or to feel sexy for your 30th wedding anniversary, it’s not shallow to want to achieve a look. Your physique is part of your brand and, for the empowered woman, it’s a symbol of her personal power in self-mastery…her inner goddess of alchemy. Alchemy…the medieval process of turning lead into gold or any seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination. So, now think about your ideal transformation, creation, or combination, and then ask yourself, am I truly on the right track? Dream Big. Desire More. More on Star Transformation here.
